The winner of this year's Schmeidler Outstanding Student Award is PA Student Member Michael Tremmel. This annual award goes to a student who excels academically and makes early contributions to the field through conference presentations, research or involvement in one or more of the organizations of the field, and/or who has overcome practical difficulties to study parapsychology.

Michael Tremmel holds a degree in psychology. He is a research fellow and a doctoral candidate at the Bender Institute of Neuroimaging, University of Giessen (Germany), and studies Indology at the University of Marburg (Germany). His dissertation is investigating meditation experiences, including anomalous experiences, and their impact on health. Several of his contributions to the field are published in the Journal of Exceptional Experiences and Psychology, the Journal of Parapsychology, and the Zeitschrift für Anomalistik. Tremmel has been a scholarship recipient of the Institut für Grenzgebiete der Psychologie and Psychohygiene (Institute for Frontier Areas of Psychology and Mental Health) in Freiburg (Germany) from 2015 to this year.
