"On July 29, 1985, I had left to spend several days
vacation with family members in the region of Somme (France). That night I had a very long
dream - at least it seemed very long to me. I had been hired by NASA as an astronaut for
the next space shuttle flight, because they had installed a synthesizer to compose music
and study the propagation of sound in zero gravity. After undergoing astronaut training,
which took up almost all the dream, I arrived late for the launch! The Colonel commanding
the flight was furious, and informed me that they had decided to replace me with someone
else. Then I saw the seven astronauts go up the launch ramp, and I announced to the
Colonel that the shuttle would have problems. At that moment I left and then returned with
a sort of huge buoy looking like a tractor tire. I gave it to the person in charge,
explaining that it would save their lives. I watched the shuttle blast off, and....
explode after one minute.
"I woke up about 3:30 am, very disturbed by this curious dream, and tried to
understand its message. The next morning I retold the dream to my sister Bénedicte and to
some friends who were there for breakfast. Then at noon the same day, we were watching the
TV news, when we saw a story which showed the space shuttle flight which had been launched
a few hours earlier, and which had some reactor problems a minute after blast-off. The
coincidence struck us, but we gave it no undue attention. Still, next week I wrote to some
Canadian friends about this experience. |
