University of New York in Prague: Bethany Butzer teaches an undergraduate course titled Mind, Body, Consciousness: The Cutting Edge of Psychology in which she shares cutting-edge research on the connections between our minds, bodies, consciousness, and the external world. The course explores innovative topics in transpersonal psychology and mind-body medicine, including the effects of mind-body practices such as yoga and meditation on health, well-being and performance, the implications of placebo effects for physical and psychological health, the upper reaches of human potential such as self-transcendence, psychological flow and peak experiences, and debates about the source and purpose of human consciousness. The course also examines evidence for and against topics that touch on the further reaches of human potential, such as research on psychedelics, unconscious thought, and parapsychology.
