About Me
Everton de Oliveira Maraldi, PhD, is a research associate at D’Or Institute for Research and
Education (Rio de Janeiro) and professor of Religious Studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, Brazil. His research is primarily concerned with the psychology of anomalous experiences and altered states of consciousness and the impact of religion and spirituality on mental health and wellbeing. He holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the Institute of Psychology of the University of São Paulo in Brazil and was a research fellow at the University of Oxford and Coventry University (UK). He is the president of the Parapsychological Association and the international liaison for the PA in Brazil. Everton served as an Elected member of the Board of Directors of the PA from 2017 to 2023. He also assumed the role of program chair of the 61st Annual Convention of the PA and the online symposium “Parapsychology and the Study of Religion and Spirituality”. In 2021, he was awarded the Eileen Coly Research Grant from Parapsychology Foundation. His research projects have been funded by several international and Brazilian institutions such as the John Templeton Foundation and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
