New Thinking Allowed

When I record video conversations with members of the P.A. for the New Thinking Allowed channel on YouTube, I also post here. Many other interviews, relevant to parapsychology, with non-members can be viewed at www.newthinkingallowed.com

Jason Reza Jorjani interviewed on The Spectral Revolution

Jason Reza Jorjani is a philosopher and faculty member at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is author of Prometheus and Atlas.

Here he describes how humankind often confuses the technological worldview of scientific theory with reality itself. Jorjani maintains that we have become mesmerized by the specters of the ancient, Greek Titans Prometheus and Atlas whose myths foreshadowed the rise of science and technology. Jorjani describes the “spectral revolution” as one in which humanity awakens to the dimensions of consciousness outside of the scientific and technological domain. In particular, he urges study of the paranormal. He believes that if we properly understand the nature of Prometheus and Atlas, we have the ability to foster a new culture that honors the depths of mind in nature.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. He serves as dean of transformational psychology at the University of Philosophical Research. He teaches parapsychology for ministers in training with the Centers for Spiritual Living through the Holmes Institute. He has served as vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology, and is the recipient of its Pathfinder Award for outstanding contributions to the field of human consciousness. He is also past-president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people are encouraged to cultivate and apply their inner, intuitive abilities.

Jason Reza Jorjani interviewed on Philosophy and Psychical Research

Jason Reza Jorjani is a philosopher and faculty member at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is author of Prometheus and Atlas.

Here he discusses the role of the spectral or psychical inner world throughout the history of philosophy. He points out that the ancient Greek philosophers lived in a social milieu in which paranormal phenomena were taken for granted. Later, “age of enlightenment” philosophers such as Descartes and Kant endeavored to banish discussion of the paranormal from philosophy. More recently, philosophers such as Henri Bergson and William James have reawakened philosophical interest in the subtle reaches of consciousness.

The Thoughtography of Ted Serios

Stephen Braude, PhD, is an emeritus professor and former chairman of the philosophy department at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He has also served as president of the Parapsychological Association. He is author of The Limits of Influence: Psychokinesis and the Philosophy of Science, First Person Plural: Multiple Personality and the Philosophy of Mind, Crimes of Reason, The Gold Leaf Lady, Immortal Remains, and ESP and Psychokinesis. He is the recent recipient of the prestigious Myers Memorial Medal awarded by the Society for Psychical Research for outstanding contributions. He also serves as editor of the Journal of Scientific Exploration.

Here he presents the history of research on “thoughtography” conducted with the psychokinetically talented subject, Ted Serios, primarily by the Denver psychiatrist, Jule Eisenbud, MD. He notes that thoughtography involves images projected from the mind of a living person, as opposed to “spirit photography” which – if not fraud – represents images of discarnate entities. He emphasizes the many scientific controls employed in this research and maintains that it has withstood the onslaught of skeptical criticism. He notes that Eisenbud analyzed these images in terms of Serios’ unconscious psychodynamics.
